Privacy Policy

Effective Oct 28, 2026.

This policy explains what information is collected when you visit tehworldnews.com (the “site”) or contact us, and what choices you have. The site is operated by Teh World News (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at tehworldnews@gmail.com.

What we and our providers collect

  • Server logs (Netlify). The site is a static website hosted by Netlify. When you load a page, Netlify’s servers receive and may log technical information such as your IP address, the page requested, date and time, browser and device type, and referring page. See Netlify’s privacy policy. We do not use these logs to identify individual visitors.
  • Analytics (Google Analytics). We use Google Analytics (GA4) to see how the site is used: pages viewed, approximate location (such as country or city), device and browser type, how you arrived, and how long you stay. Google Analytics only loads if you click Accept. Until then, nothing is sent to Google for analytics and no analytics cookies are set. If you accept, it uses cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) to recognise a browser. According to Google, GA4 does not log or store IP addresses. Google acts as our processor for these statistics under its data processing terms, and we do not allow it to use the data for its own advertising on this site. Analytics data is kept by Google for no longer than 14 months. We use the reports to understand and improve the site; we do not try to identify individual visitors.
  • Email. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it to respond and to keep a record, and do not share it except where the law requires.
  • Nothing else. The site has no user accounts, comments, newsletter sign-up or contact forms. We do not collect other personal information directly through the site. Fonts, images and code are served from our own site, and we do not embed social media widgets; links to social platforms are ordinary links.

Advertising (possible in the future)

We may show ads through Google AdSense in the future. If we do, Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your visits to this and other websites. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services. You can manage ad personalization in Google’s Ad Settings, or opt out of interest-based ads from many companies at aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org (in the EEA/UK, youronlinechoices.com). If we enable ads, we will update this policy first.

Cookies and your choices

The site itself does not set cookies. Cookies come from Google Analytics and, if enabled in the future, Google AdSense. When you first visit, a banner asks you to Accept or Decline, with equal choice. Before you accept, the Google Analytics code is not even loaded, so no cookies are set and no analytics data goes to Google. If you accept, Google Analytics loads and may set cookies and collect the statistics described above. If you decline, nothing is loaded, and any Google Analytics cookies already on your browser are deleted. We save your choice in your browser’s local storage on your device (not a cookie) so we do not ask again. You can change it at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page, and withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them. You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends it, we treat it as a “no”: we do not show the banner, and Google Analytics stays off unless you deliberately click Accept in Cookie settings. We do not respond to the older “Do Not Track” setting, but because analytics is off until you accept, it makes no difference.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the providers that run the site (Netlify for hosting, Google for analytics and, if enabled, ads, and our email provider) and when the law requires it. Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

In the past 12 months, the categories of personal information that we or our providers may have collected are: identifiers (IP address, cookie or device identifiers, and email address if you email us); internet or network activity (pages viewed, referring page); approximate geolocation derived from IP address; and device and browser information. The purposes are running, securing and improving the site, measuring audience and responding to messages. We do not sell personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so no “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link is needed. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information. We honor Global Privacy Control signals (see above). If we ever enable advertising cookies, we will add a “Do Not Sell or Share” link and update this policy first. In the past 12 months we have disclosed identifiers and activity data only to Netlify and Google, who act as our service providers. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. We keep information only as long as needed for these purposes. You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you and to delete or correct it, and we will not discriminate against you for making a request. Most data is held by Netlify and Google and not by us, so for those we will tell you how to use their tools.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, UK and Switzerland

  • Controller. Teh World News is the controller of personal data we handle for this site. Contact: tehworldnews@gmail.com.
  • Legal bases. Hosting and security: our legitimate interest in running and protecting a news website. Analytics cookies and data: your consent, given through the cookie banner (Article 6(1)(a)); nothing is collected for analytics before that. Replying to your emails: our legitimate interest in responding to you (or steps you ask us to take). Advertising cookies, if we enable them, will also be used only with your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time using the Cookie settings link.
  • International transfers. We are in the United States, and our providers (Netlify and Google) are US-based, so your data may be processed in the United States and other countries. They rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, as described in their own policies. If you accept analytics, you consent to that transfer; if you decline, only the basic hosting data in Netlify’s logs is transferred.
  • Your rights. You may ask to access, correct, delete or restrict our use of your personal data, object to it, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time (withdrawing does not affect what happened before). We reply within one month. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. Giving us personal data is optional; you can use the whole site without giving us any.

Children’s privacy (COPPA)

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

How to make a privacy request

Email tehworldnews@gmail.com with the subject “Privacy request” and tell us what you would like. We may need to confirm it is you, for example by replying from the email address you used. We will respond within the time required by law (generally 30 to 45 days). An authorised agent may make a request for you with your written permission.

How long we keep information

  • Google Analytics data: no longer than 14 months, then Google deletes it.
  • Emails to us: up to 24 months after the last message, or longer only if needed for a legal reason (for example a copyright notice).
  • Hosting logs: kept by Netlify under its own policy.
  • Your cookie choice: stays in your browser until you clear it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date; we have no mailing list, so this page is how changes are announced. Please check it from time to time.
